Asus is set to launch its next gaming smartphone, the Asus ROG Phone 5 on March 10. Ahead of the launch, details about the Asus ROG Phone 5 have surfaced on benchmark website Geekbench, hinting that the smartphone may come with an 18GB RAM variant. If true, this will be the highest amount of RAM seen on any smartphone yet. In another development, the Asus ROG Phone 5 listing has bee spotted on China’s JD.com.
The Asus ROG Phone 5 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 888 chipset, according to previous reports. The Geekbench listing of the Asus ROG Phone 5, which shows model number ASUS_I005DB, may carry the most amount of RAM ever seen on a smartphone. Before this, 16GB was the highest amount of RAM that has been seen on a smartphone. The Asus ROG Phone 3 also came with up to 16GB of RAM. Apart from hinting at the possible RAM figures, the Asus ROG Phone 5’s Geekbench listing also reveals the single-core and multi-core benchmark scores for the ROG phone 5. The Asus ROG Phone 5 scored 1,113 in single-core tests and 3,468 points in multi-core tests.
According to previous reports, the Asus ROG Phone 5 will come with a 6.7-inch FHD+ display and will come with Android 11 out-of-the-box. It will be backed by a 6,000mAh battery – same size as the ROG Phone 3 – with support for 65W fast charging.
Asus will launch the ROG Phone 5 on March 10 at 4:15PM IST. The landing page for the Asus ROG Phone 5 has also been made live on Asus’s website. However, it does not reveal anything apart from showing an RGB logo that may indicate the presence of one on the smartphone itself.
