Indian Tent Pegging Team Announced for World Cup Qualifiers


The Indian Tent Pegging Team was announced yesterday after the conclusion of National Equestrian Tent Pegging Championship. Fifteen Top Scorers from the Nationals were selected for Trials. Among them the top 5 riders were selected to represent India at the World Cup Qualifier now scheduled from 16 – 18 March 2021 at Gautam Buddha University Equestrian Ground, Greater Noida.

Rfn Dinesh G Karlekar and Rfn BR Jena from Assam Rifles made it to the top four along with Sep Mohit Kumar of Indian Navy and Sep Sandeep Kumar of Western Command (ASC) marked their way into the Indian team with splendid performances at the Nationals and Trials conducted by Equestrian Federation of India (EFI). ASI Harikesh Singh of Haryana Police is the fifth member of the Indian Squad.

Mr. Ahmad Afsar was appointed Coach & Manager of Indian Team who is a Prominent International Tent Pegging promoter and Former Coach & Manager of Indian Equestrian Tent Pegging Team who holds the record for winning maximum medals at World Cup Qualifiers 2015 in Abu Dhabi for Indian Team and also the World Cup in Egypt in 2016 where the team won 5 Gold medals out of eight disciplines, a record unparalleled by any team so far.

The Indian Team will play with USA, Pakistan, Nepal and Belarus. Only 1 team will qualify for the ITPF World Cup.
