All England Championships 2021: PV Sindhu took just 25 minutes to dispatch Denmark’s Line Christophersen to enter the quarter-finals.
PV Sindhu put up an extremely dominant display on Thursday as she moved into the quarter-finals of All England Championships with a straight games win over Denmark’s Line Christophersen. Sindhu demolished the Dane 21-8, 21-8 in merely 25 minutes to win her second round match. Christophersen was absolutely no match for the Indian as Sindhu blazed through into the next round.
Sindhu will need all her expertise on Friday when she gets a tough test in the last eight against Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi. Yamaguchi got a walkover from her opponent on Thursday and will come fresh to the quarters.
Earlier in the day, Lakshya Sen also got a solid second round win over France’s Thomas Rouxel to advance to the quarter-finals. He beat the French 21-18, 21-17 in 53 minutes. Lakshya will next be up against Mark Caljouw from the Netherlands.
HS Prannoy fell in the second round to world No.1 Kento Momota. Momota beat two Indians in a row as he sent Parupalli Kashyap packing in the first round. Against Prannoy, Momota eased through in his typical style beating the Indian 21-15, 21-14 in 48 minutes.
Also on the losing end was the mixed doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa. They were up against the Japanese pair of Yuki Kaneko and Misaki Matsutomo and it took them just 35 minutes to beat the Indian pair. Satwik-Ashwini lost 21-19, 21-9.
