r/immigration – Permanent resident child of deceased US citizen, is it still possible to get citizenship?

Hey guys going through a really hard time and once again turning to this great community to help.

my friend is under 18 and a permanent resident. Their only parent (naturalized US citizen) passed away. Is it still possible to file N600 for the child? What im seeing on USCIS is that the child has to be “residing[5] in the United States in the legal and physical custody of the U.S. citizen parent.[“.

When the parent was alive the child was in legal and physical custody of the parent. I’m under a lot of stress so my apologies if I’ve overlooked something obvious.
