r/immigration – USCIS claims I don’t make enough to sponsor my spouse when my last 2 tax years show I make double to triple to $21500 they claim I need to make.

Asking for help or advice or insight on a weird message i got from USCIS

The message I got from the Department of State is below

<My Name> does not meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrants for this case. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview. For more information, please visit https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 for a joint sponsor may be submitted. FINANCIAL SPONSORSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES: Financial sponsors, joint sponsors, and applicants should be aware of responsibilities when signing an I-864 and the consequences for a sponsored immigrant’s acceptance of federal means-tested public benefits. For more information visit https://nvc.state.gov/aos.

I don’t get it. More information if it is needed. I am an American living in China and making good money here (I made over 60k last year, over 50k the year before). I have had an accountant who is familiar with overseas income files for me for the last 2 years so the IRS has the documentation they need, The documents I sent were the PDFs of the IRS tax records.

Does anyone have any insight or advice?
